INTRODUCTION TO WILD WORK

Welcome to Wild Work in Cavan!

During our Introduction to Wild Work programme, you will explore biodiversity in the Irish landscape. Our trainers will bring you into nature to experience Cavan wild spaces first-hand. Here you can learn through seeing, touching and interacting with the natural world. With our approach, your outdoor learning will be supported by online interactive learning and tailored virtual reality experiences, to ensure a fun and fulfilling programme.

Everyone!!

And that means you!!

Everyone will love Wild Work.  You need no prior experience in ecology, conservation, or biodiversity. All you need is a yearning to learn in nature and from nature. 

There are a number of elements of Wild Work that are aimed at children and families, however this course is for adults. 

WHAT IS YOUR TIME COMMITMENT?

The course has 6 sessions that will run on the same day at the same time over 12 weeks. You can participate in your preferred location.

Module Content

History of Biodiversity in the Irish Landscape

Explore how the Irish Landscape has developed since the last Ice Age, human influences and the loss of wild spaces. 

Wild Work Philosophy and Ethos

Learn how Wild Work started and how we approach nature from a positive point of view to help people, help nature, help people. 

Biodiversity for Well-being

Discover the benefits of green spaces for mental health and how to deal with the anxiety associated with the state of biodiversity and the global climate change. 

Habitats

We will learn about our native woodlands, rivers & streams, and grasslands. What makes a healthy, biodiverse habitat? Small actions can make a big difference. 

Citizen Science Monitoring

We will investigate how citizen science furthers our understanding of Ireland’s biodiversity, helps conservation efforts, and supports our well-being.

Reflection and Moving Forward with the Wild Work Framework

A reflective look on how we can use the Wild Work Framework to support biodiversity action as individuals or groups in the future.
